Coatings and prisms

The UpClose G2 has two roof-mounted prisms inside, along with an auxiliary prism. Roof prisms keep the path between the spectacle lens and objective lens straight, making the binoculars more compact and perfect for slipping into a jacket pocket or handbag. Our roof prisms are manufactured from BK-7 optical glass, which has high reflectivity, allowing more light to reach your eyes through the optical path. UpClose G2 also contains additional optical surfaces that are specially coated to further increase light transmission. The result is a brighter field of view than uncoated binoculars.

Looking through the UpClose G2 is comfortable whether you're wearing glasses or not, thanks to its rubber eye loops. For those who don't wear glasses, keeping the eye rings upward will position the eyes correctly. If you wear glasses, just fold the eye ring down so your glasses won't obstruct your vision.
